KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo’s Noise Task force hasn’t met since August. It will meet Monday evening to try again to draft a final set of recommendations to the Kalamazoo City Commission.
Two sets of sound and time limits were proposed and ultimately rejected at the last meeting, because the task force members say they just don’t have enough expertise to accurately gauge, let alone regulate decibel levels. Without that, enforcement is nearly impossible.
The big festivals want to be able to continue to operate until 1:30 in the morning on Friday and Saturday nights, but downtown residents say that’s too late and too loud.
What ever they recommend will be subject to final approval by the Kalamazoo City Commission.
Monday’s meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
