DETROIT (WKZO)- The Detroit Red Wings bounced back after a two-game losing streak to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2.
The Red Wings started off the game strong as Todd Bertuzzi scored a power play goal at 7:13 of the first period to give the Wings a 1-0 lead.
Then Niklas Kronwell added another power play goal at 11:08 in the second period to extend the lead to 2-0. The Flyers though struck back 34 seconds later as Erik Gustafasson found the back of the net to cut the Red Wings to 2-1.
The Red Wings then broke it open in the third as Pavel Datyuk added a power play goal at 3:08 to give the Red Wings another two goal lead at 3-1. The Flyers though came right back just over two minutes later as Tye McGinn beat Jimmy Howard to make it a 3-2 game.
Henrik Zetterberg then scored a goal at 13:48 in the third and the lead was at 4-2 for the Red WIngs. Then Zetterberg sealed the game with an empty net goal at 19:07 to seal victory at 5-2.
Jimmy Howard stopped 32 of 34 shots on the night. Daniel Alfredsson had three assists for the Wings. The Red Wings were 3-7 on the power play tonight.
The Red Wings improve their record to 3-2. Their next game is Monday at 12:40 pm against the Boston Bruins. The game can be heard on 1660 the Fan
