KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The transition date is set not only for the next Kalamazoo City Commission but the new City Manager as well.
Last night Kalamazoo City Commissioners approved a resolution that gave Ken Collard 60-days notice. Its required under the Early Retirement Program.
A visibly moved Mayor Bobby Hopewell says they hope to have a tentative contract with Jim Ritsema by noon Wednesday and approve it at the October 21st commission meeting.
His first day on the job would be November 11, the day the new commission takes the oath.
Collard’s last day as Manager would also be November 11th and his last day on the job would be January 3rd.
