BOSTON (WKZO)- The Detroit Red Wings were playing their third game in the last four days and it showed as they fell to the Boston Bruins 4-1.
The Bruins got on the board first as Torey Krug beat Jimmy Howard on the power play at 9:11 in the first peroid to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.
The Red Wings fought back though as Henrik Zetterberg evened the score at 16:49 on a slap shot to beat Tuukka Rask. The goal was assisted by Justin Abdelkader and Pavel Datsyuk.
The Bruins came out in the second period and scored 36 seconds into it on a wrist shot from Brad Marchand. Jordan Caron added another goal at 7:58 to make it a 3-1 Bruins lead.
Zdeno Chara added a power play goal in the third period to ice the game at 12:17 to give the Bruins a 4-1 lead.
The Bruins had four power play chances while the Red Wings only had two.
Jimmy Howard stopped 33 of 37 shots while Tukkaa Rask stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced.
The Red Wings drop to 2-1 on the season and are in action again next Thursday at home against the Phoenix Cyotes. Broadcast time is at 7:10 pm on 1660 the Fan.
