LANSING (WKZO) -- Michigan lawmakers continue looking for ways to save money in the corrections budget. State Representative Greg MacMaster, of Kewadin, says that they've saved money on the food budget and the cost of transporting prisoners. He says that efforts along those lines will continue.
However, on Thursday came word that two private bids to operate a state prison fell short of the ten percent savings required for the state to proceed.
MacMaster says that finding ways to develop a more effective and efficient government need to continue.
