LUDINGTON (WKZO) -- Sean Phillips is already serving time in connection with the disappearance of his four-month-old daughter in 2011, and now he's charged with the murder of "Baby Kate." The Mason County Prosecutor's office and Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette announced the charge Friday.
"She was the innocent victim of a terrible crime, at the hands of her own father, no less," said Schuette. "It's a tragic case. It just makes you sick."
Schuette says even though the girl's body has not been found, new evidence has been found which prosecutors believe will lead to a conviction. He would not discuss what the new evidence is.
Phillips was convicted of unlawful imprisonment in the case previously. He took the infant after an argument over custody with the baby's mother.
