KENT COUNTY (WKZO) -- Suspected murderer Javonte Higgins, who has gone to extraordinary lengths to convince court officials that he has mental problems, has been ruled competent to stand trial.
He spent most of his arraignment babbling, and drooled while acting heavily sedated during a preliminary hearing.
At one point he delayed another hearing by smearing feces all over himself.
Higgins is suspected of breaking into the Kentwood home of David and Vivian Bouwman and killing them and then stealing and burning their car.
He was ordered to undergo psychiatric exams and apparently the experts feel he understands what’s going on and can assist in his own defense.
