LANSING (WKZO) -- State Senator John Proos is warning people in southwest Michigan to be wary of Affordable Care Act related scams. He says that people have been getting phone calls from individuals claiming to be selling health insurance policies, and urges anyone who is the target of such a scam to notify the authorities.
Proos added that you should be skeptical of offers that are too good to be true, and call the Michigan Consumer Protection Division at 877-765-8388.
It can be complicated to navigate through the Affordable Care Act, and there's nothing wrong with seeking help from experts if you're confused. In Michigan, the official site to purchase health insurance is through the federal Health Insurance Marketplace at www.healthcare.gov.
