KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- State Representative Margaret O'Brien, of Portage, announced on Wednesday that she's running for the Michigan Senate next year.
O'Brien will be running to take over the seat of State Senator Tonya Schuitmaker, who's jumping from the 20th District to the brand new 26th District. Since former State Representative Lawrence Wenke has already announced that he'll run for Schuitmaker's current seat, O'Brien will have to square off with him in a Republican primary next year. She tells voters just to just look at her record of bipartisanship and looking out for both the long and short term consequences of what lawmakers do.
State Representative Sean McCann has announced that he's running for the State Senate in the 20th District on the Democratic side. So far, he doesn't have any primary challengers.
