PORTAGE (WKZO) -- Portage Public Safety responded to a report of a traffic crash that caused a natural gas leak around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday. A passenger vehicle struck a residence, and while no one was in the home at the time, two neighboring houses were evacuated as a precaution.
The gas leak was fixed by Portage Fire Rescue personnel. A 23-year-old Portage resident was the only occupant of the vehicle that struck the home and suffered minor injuries.
Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, though driver fatigue may have been. The incident remains under investigation.
