UPDATE: Power Outages still impacting tens of thousands in West Michigan

by

JACKSON (WKZO) -- Consumers Energy is telling some customers now that it may be Saturday before they are able to restore their power, but most will be on before then.

The Utility says it has asked other utilities in the Midwest to send crews to help restore power, but many other utilities are also dealing with storm damage.

He says they focus on the repairs that can return power to the most people, and critical facilities like hospitals and police stations first.V v v vAs of 4 a.m. Tuesday, the south west Michigan areas most affected by electric interruptions were: Allegan (3,836); Barry (4,472), Branch (1,593), Calhoun (4,856), Hillsdale (2,524), Ingham (5,061), Jackson (6,115), Kalamazoo (9,352), Kent (5,792), Muskegon (1,326), Ottawa (2,613), and VanBuren (4,070). Updated outage information is available at www.ConsumersEnergy.com/outagemap.

Indiana and Michigan Electric says their facilities in Michigan have suffered so much damage that it’s still impossible to give an estimate of how long it will take to make repairs.

Berrien and western St. Joseph Counties have over 25-thousand homes and businesses that are still in the dark. They are telling blacked out customers to be prepared to live without electricity until Friday.
