WASHINGTON (WKZO) -- Former Michigan Congressman Bob Carr is among those calling on Congress to use some ongoing negotiations to resolve lingering budget issues.
Carr is a member of the Congressional Fiscal Leadership Council, and a part of the Campaign to Eliminate the Debt. He and other former lawmakers say that now is the time for Congress to negotiate some serious budget reductions.
The congressional conference committee will include Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow, so Carr urges citizens to contact her office. He says that the goal is to get the federal debt down to manageable levels, not necessarily to eliminate all of it right away. Carr thinks there's still time to reduce the debt in a reasonable way that won't have too much impact on regular people.
