LANSING (WKZO) -- The debate over healthcare all comes down to what an insurance plan should cover. Andy Hetzel, with Blue Cross Blue Shield, says that the reason people have been losing their health plans is that the Affordable Care Act instituted certain requirements for such insurance, and many plans didn't fit the bill. Therefore, insurance companies are just dropping them.
Hetzel says that the debate is whether people are better off being forced into having more comprehensive plans. In all, there are ten things that the ACA requires insuranc epolicies to cover.
Hetzel says that if you lose your plan, the solution is to call your insurance company, tell them how much you can afford to pay, and then go from there. He also notes that the Affordable Care Act created subsidies for proper insurance, and many people might not realize they're qualified.
