LANSING (WKZO) -- Mothers Against Drunk Driving has released a troubling new report. The survey from MADD finds that 73 percent of adults over the age of 21 have seen a friend or acquaintance try to get behind the wheel after having too many drinks.
The organization's Tyler MacEachran says the numbers just show that law enforcement has a lot to do, considering that nearly 37 thousand adrunk driving arrests are made in Michigan each year.
MacEachran added, however, that the efforts of MADD and other groups to spread the anti drunk driving message have been effective in that most people report trying to stop would-be drunk drivers from getting behind the wheel. He says it's everyone's responsibility to take away such a person's keys, tell police, or call them a cab.
