KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Communities in Schools Kalamazoo is appealing for money as part of an effort to help more young people graduate. Communities in Schools started the Promise Me capital campaign to help improve the gradation rate, noting that one in five high school students in the United States don't finish.
CIS Executive Director Pam Kingery says that they're getting closer to the four point five million dollar goal, but there's still a ways to go. They've raised 2.1 million dollars so far.
The money raised will be used to sustain existing support for K through 12 students in 19 schools, sustain and grow after school capacity, and provide more tutoring services, among other things. You can find out about donating to Communities in Schools Kalamazoo by going to www.CISKalamzoo.org .
