DETROIT (WKZO)- Henrik Zetterberg scored the only two goals tonight for the Detroit Red Wings including a game tying goal at the 15:48 mark of the third period to tie the game at 2-2. The Tampa Bay Lightning however answered in overtime as Teddy Purcell found the back of the net at 3:51 into overtime to give the Lighting the victory 3-2 over the Red Wings.
The Red Wings got on the board first as the Zetterberg scored at the 3:51 mark in the first period. Ryan Malone of the Lightning answered at 10:11 of the first to even the score at 1-1.
The Lightning then took the lead 2-1 in the second on a Steven Stamkos goal at the 12:50 mark.
Henrik Zetterberg has nine goals in the season now for the Red Wings. Jimmy Howard stopped 31 of 34 shots on the night.
The Red Wings (9-5-4) will be back in action on Tuesday against the Winnipeg Jets. Broadcast time is at 7:10 pm on 1660 the Fan.
