KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- They call it the “Promise Network” and they are meeting in Kalamazoo this week.
Communities all over the U.S. that either have initiated or would like to introduce scholarship programs like the Kalamazoo Promise have sent delegates to Kalamazoo to soak up as much information as they can.
The Promise’s Bob Jorth says 30 communities that have scholarship programs are in attendance and about ten are here to find out how they can start their own. He say they may try to duplicate it, but Kalamazoo’s Promise remains unique, and a leader.
They are meeting at the Radisson.
The scholarship program, which is funded by anonymous donors and guarantees every Kalamazoo Schools graduate free college tuition, is about to mark its 8th anniversary.
