KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Around 7 p.m. Tuesday, investigators with the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team executed a search warrant in the 2800-block of Westbrook in Kalamazoo, resulting in the arrest of a Western Michigan University student.
Investigators had obtained the warrant after several tips came in that drugs were being sold at an apartment there, and their search turned up a half-pound of marijuana individually packaged for sale, along with a fully loaded assault rifle and several hundred rounds of ammunition. The search also turned up cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
The suspect has been identified as a 20-year-old WMU student from Edwardsburg, and he was arrested on a charge of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, as well as a felony firearm charge. Both charges have been submitted to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
