LANSING (WKZO) -- State Health officials say it appears that the flu season is off to a slow start after a milder than normal flu outbreak last year.

Michigan Health Dept. Spokesperson Angela Minicuci says Flu is also unpredictable, like the year before when it spiked early and continued to infect more people than usual until it faded in the spring.

She says unlike that year, this year’s flu vaccine appears potent and properly formulated to prevent the 3 strains of the virus that going around.

In fact this year there is are a couple of new vaccines, one for people who are allergic to eggs, and another that includes four strains.

The sooner you get that flu shot, the sooner you will be protected.A new study shows that heart patients can have their risk of a new attack or stroke greatly reduced by getting a flu shot.
