DETROIT (WKZO) -- The former mayor of Detroit is appealing his conviction on federal racketeering and bribery charges.
Attorneys for Kwame Kilpatrick filed the notice with the court Wednesday night. Kilpatrick, his friend and former contractor Bobby Ferguson, and his father Bernard Kilpatrick were convicted on various charges in March. The grounds for his appeal were not released.
A federal judge sentenced the former mayor to serve 28 years in prison earlier this month.
