Chicago, IL (1660 The Fan) - The Detroit Red Wings fell to the Chicago Blackhawks tonight in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals in Chicago. The top-seeded Blackhawks got off to a good start with a 2nd Period goal from Patrick Sharp just 68 seconds into the period. Henrik Zetterberg answered 26 seconds into the 3rd period on a wrist-shot to beat Corey Crawford. The game nearly ended on a late goal for Chicago, but penalties to each team stopped the goal from counting. In overtime Brent Seabrook beat Jimmy Howard with a snapshot over the glove to end the series, and move on to the conference finals. This is the last season the Red Wings will be apart of the Western Conference. Next season the Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets move to the Eastern Conference and the Winnipeg Jets move to the Western Conference. Blackhawks will take on the defending Stanley Cup Champions Los Angeles Kings in the Conference Finals.
