Detroit, MI (1660 The Fan) – Drew miller scored the game-winning goal and Jimmy Howard made 39 saves as the Red Wings are now up two games to one over the Blackhawks after defeating them 3-1 on Monday night.
Gustav Nyquist scored the first goal for the Red Wings 7:49 into the second period and Miller added the second goal for the Wings just 31 seconds later.
Patrick Kane scored the lone goal for Chicago 4:35 into the third, ending a 90:30 scoring draught for the Blackhawks.
A little over two minutes later, Pavel Datsyuk gave the Wings a two goal advantage again with his third goal of the postseason.
Both teams went 0 for 4 on the power play. This was the first time during the postseason that the Blackhawks had been held scoreless through two periods. Game 4 will be on Thursday night back at Joe Louis Arena at 8pm.
