PLAINWELL (WKZO) -- For the first time, Plainwell High School has made Newsweek's list of the top high schools in America. Each year, the publication compiles a list of two thousand or so schools that excel in certain categories, says Plainwell Superintendent Susan Wakefield.
Those fields include graduation rate, average ACT score, the number of students in AP classes, and the percent of college bound graduates.
Wakefield says everyone at Plainwell High is excited about the news. The school ranked number 1,568 on the overall list. There are 82 Michigan institutions on the list this year. Portage Northern ranked 572nd, and Portage Central is 724th . You can see the full rankings here.
