Bill to modify Michigan fireworks law introduced

LANSING (WKZO) -- A Michigan House committee next week will take up legislation to tweak Michigan's year-old law allowing for the use of more fireworks.  Democratic Representative Harold Haugh of Detroit is the bill's main sponsor, and says it would let local governments ban fireworks from being lit between midnight and 8 a.m. on the ten national holidays when they're currently allowed.

As the law reads now, fireworks can be set off at any time without restrictions.  Lawmakers have heard plenty of complaints since it took effect last year.
