KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- This is National Electrical Safety Month, and Consumers Energy is reminding everyone how to best be safe near its equipment. The company's Kate Leese-Burger says, for one thing, when you're doing your landscaping this summer, stay away from power lines. Don't try to trim trees that are near the lines. Instead, call Consumers and they can deal with it.
And, Leese-Burger says if a storm knocks down a power line near you, don't touch it. Call the electric company right away. And, if you're digging, do remember to call Miss Dig first, so you don't end up hitting some gas line.
