KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo Mayor Bobby Hopewell is going to be busy in the next week or so. He's taking the fight over the Allied Paper dump site on the road.
Hopewell tells us that, this week, he's going to Chicago for an EPA meeting to discuss the matter, and then next week he's going to Washington D.C. to meet with Michigan congressional representatives.
Mayor Hopewell's asking the EPA to scrap its plans to just cap and leave the PCB contaminated soil at the former Allied Paper site. Locals want the contaminated dirt to be taken away. There's a protest march planned for this Wednesday at Kalamazoo's Homecrest Circle, off Portage Road. They'll walk over to the Allied site. It starts at five PM.
