KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- It was bound to happen -- the US Supreme Court is now considering a gay marriage case...and depending on the outcome, bans on same sex marriage across the country could potentially be struck down.
Zachary Bauer, with the Kalamazoo Gay and Lesbian Resource Center, wouldn't mind that happening. He says that there are a variety of reasons why committed gay couples should be allowed to marry. Not only would it give them the satisfaction of having their relationship legally recognized, but there are also practical economic reaons, like hospital visitation and tax benefits.Bauer says that Michigan, in particular, is not a gay friendly place to live, noting that a person could be legally fired here just for being gay. After marriage equality, he'd like to set his sights on changing that.
