MATTAWAN (WKZO) -- A three-year fundraising campaign to collect at least 2.3 million dollars for Pretty Lake Camp in Mattawan is being described as a resounding success. Sue Jones, with the camp, says that she'd hoped to raise that much by the end of the year, but already, 2.4 million has been collected.
As for how the money will be spent -- Jones says most of it will go into capital improvements that directly affect the campers. For example, new playground equipment will be installed, and they're going to build a multi purpose building, with a gym and classrooms.
Pretty Lake Camp serves underprivileged kids from the Kalamazoo area for free each summer.
