LANSING (WKZO) -- Michigan drivers pay some of the highest rates in the country.
On average, motorists are paying just over 2,500-dollars a year per vehicle, second only to Louisiana's average of just under 2,700-dollars. The annual study by Insure.com says a main factor for the high rates is that Michigan is the only state with a guarantee of unlimited, lifetime personal-injury-protection benefits from a car crash.
The study calculated the national average at just over 1,500-dollars-- that puts Michigan's average per vehicle annual insurance rate at over one-thousand dollars more per year than the national average.
