DETROIT (WKZO) -- A new sports car from the automaker Detroit Electric is planned for later this year. Company officials announced this week they will bring 180 jobs to Detroit and will have the capacity to build 2,500 vehicles a year.
The first of the company's all electric lineup will be unveiled next month at the Shanghai Motor Show. Few details have been released on the vehicle but it will be a two seat sports car.
The Detroit Electric name was revived in 2008 by Albert Lam who was the CEO of Lotus Engineering Group and Executive Director of Lotus Cars of England. Detroit Electric will have their corporate offices in the Fisher Building.
