KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- They lined up 3 and 4 deep on both sides of the Kalamazoo Mall for Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Kalamazoo. It was quite a contrast from the weather last year when it was possible to turn out in shirt sleeves and be perfectly comfortable.
The low temperatures Saturday meant it was a good idea to bundle up, complete with scarves and gloves. There were floats and bands, Irish dancing groups, and a lot of children, both in the viewing audience and in the parade.
There was a wagon drawn by Clydesdales, Local renaissance fairs sent their casts, and appropriately the band from Hackett High School marched. For them, wearing green is a year-round occurance.
The cold weather meant fewer turned out this year than last, but that was to be expected.
