Eighteen-year-old Richard Usher Jr. was in an Ottawa County courtroom yesterday, where his attorney asked for a lower bond. A judge denied the request, and Usher remains jailed on a 350-thousand dollar bond on manslaughter and felony firearms charges.
Sixteen-year-old Brandon Kuiper died late last week and he'll be laid to rest tomorrow. Ottawa County sheriff's deputies say the shooting occurred while Kuiper and Usher were "horsing around" with a .22-caliber handgun.
