LANSING (WKZO) -- The Michigan Department of Community Health says the drinking water in private wells along the Kalamazoo River where a massive oil spill happened in 2010 is safe.

MDCH officials say people who drink that water won't be harmed by oil-related chemicals.  Iron and nickel were detected in a few wells, but not at dangerous levels.

Hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil spilled into the river nearly three years ago when an Enbridge Energy oil pipeline ruptured in Calhoun County.
