IONIA (WKZO) -- A 56-year-old man serving time at the Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility in Ionia has died from injuries suffered in an alleged attack at the hands of another inmate.

The Michigan Department of Corrections says the victim died on March 9th after being attacked two days earlier.  No names have been released, but officials said the suspect is 40-years-old and was serving a 20 to 40 year sentence for an armed robbery in 1992.

New charges are pending.
