PORTAGE (WKZO) -- A former Portage School Administrator who put personal charges on a school credit card was sentenced yesterday, but has already paid most of her debt to society.
Marcia Zahrt was an assistant in the Human Resources Department and the credit card was issued for office supplies and training cost. Records showed she ran up a bill for $1,074 on personal costs.
She was sentenced to ‘time served’, the day she spent in jail when she was first arrested. She would have been ordered to pay the money back, but she already has. She was also ordered to pay court costs and fees.
The 48-year-old pled no-contest to a misdemeanor embezzlement charge. In exchange a felony embezzlement count and 3 charges of theft of a financial device were dropped. She lost her job the day she was arrested.
