WYOMING (WKZO) -- A Kalamazoo man who allegedly used a security guard badge to convince two women he was a police officer, and to give him their sexual services for free, will be tried for impersonating a police officer and extortion.
Investigators say 32-year-old Lavern Filipunas went on line, offering $300 for sex and two women agreed to meet him at a motel in Kent County. When they appeared, they claim he flashed the badge and threatened to arrest them unless they put out. They did.
The women have no previous record of prostitution. They claim it was a first time.
His lawyer says he never said he was a police officer and was just looking for a discount.
The judge ordered him to trial and continued bond at $50-thousand. He paid it and is now free.
