COLON (WKZO) -- A fire at a bar and Italian restaurant in Colon is being blamed for taking out two other businesses as well.The fire began in the Kitchen of Curly’s Bar and Papa Mancino’s restaurant around noon Friday, just as they were preparing to open.

The flames spread to the Five Star Pizza joint and the Prudential Insurance Agency.

They haven’t determined the cause. The investigation isn’t expected to begin until Monday.

Colon Public Schools actually closed their junior high and high school building at 1:30 p.m. and sent students home, because of a water shortage caused by the firefighters' efforts to battle the blaze.
