GOBLES (WKZO) -- The arrest of a 32-year-old suspected auto thief has led to the recovery of plenty of stolen property.
The Southwest Commercial Auto Recovery Team and the South West Enforcement Team worked with the Michigan State Police to bust the 32-year-old man who is believed to have stolen a vehicle from the Battle Creek Transportation Center's parking lot. Tips from the public indicated the man intended to use the vehicle to haul stolen goods from storage units.
Detectives followed the man to a storage unit center just outside of Gobles where they observed the man allegedly break into six units, and they arrested him when he was loading it into his vehicle. A search of the man's home for additional stolen goods also turned up meth lab components.
All of the stolen property was returned and the only damage done was to the six padlocks that were broken at the storage unit center.
