KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Some Kalamazoo County Commissioners are balking at a proposal to spent 71-thousand dollars on an upgraded fire alarm system for a building they are currently renting on the Nazareth Campus and plan to leave in two years.
Commissioner John Taylor says that’s a lot of money for something that won’t get a lot of use.
County administration says the current fire alarms are just about to become non-compliant and the upgrade is needed to remain in code.
There were also questions about the way the requests for bids were distributed and their responsibility for the upgrade. The vote has been delayed until their next meeting and some of the questions can be answered.
