IONIA (WKZO) -- A Portland man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to scamming his former employer out of nearly 500-thousand dollars.

Marti Schrauben pled guilty in Ionia County Circuit Court Tuesday to charges of uttering and publishing and pled no contest to several other counts, including forgery.  He obtained the money by submitting false death certificates to collect on funeral insurance policies while working for the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home.
