PAW PAW (WKZO) -- A Saint Joseph County sheriffs deputy has pleaded guilty to larceny of between 200 and one thousand dollars after being accused of stealing prescription medications from the county jail.
39 year old Stephen Morris was in a Van Buren County court on Wednesday to enter his plea as part of a deal that prevents him from being charged with larceny from a building, a more serious felony. Morris admitted that he took a prescription painkiller called Tramadol from inmates at the jail while on duty there in January.
He'll be sentenced in April, and is currently on administrative leave without pay from the Saint Joseph County Sheriffs Department.
