BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- It gives new meaning to the phrase “buyer beware”. A 26-year-old Battle Creek man says he accidentally shot himself in the leg when a gun he was thinking of buying from two men discharged when he stuffed it into his waistband.

It happened in the 100 block of Riverside Drive at about 2:40 Tuesday morning.

He told police the two men fled and took their gun with them.

He was taken to Bronson Battle Creek by family for treatment and will recover.
