Portage Northern gave Loy Norrix plenty to handle, but Loy Norrix turned up the defensive pressure and ran their way to victory 70-61 on Monday night at Quiring Arena.  With the win, the Knights move onto the district semi-final game on Wednesday night at Mattawan.

It was Portage Northern who started the game fast as they got out to an 8-2 lead to start the game, but the Knights would respond outscoring the Huskies 14-5 the rest of the first quarter to lead 16-13 after one quarter.  Bishop Robinson led the way, as he usually does, getting nine points and three rebounds in the first frame.  Loy Norrix rode that momentum into the second quarter seizing control of the game to lead by 10 at the break.

In the third quarter Portage Northern tried to make a move as they cut the lead all the way down to six.  That six point lead was extended back to double digits by the end of the third on account of a flurry of action in the final minute.  The Knights scored six points in the final 38 seconds led once again by Robinson who scored 10 in the third and four of those final six points.  The run was highlighted by a monster dunk while getting fouled by Darrion Mullen.

In the final quarter, the Huskies were once again able to get the lead down to eight, but that was as close as they would get, as he Knights were able to effectively close out the Huskies down the stretch.

Bishop Robinson was the star of the night again as he scored 30 and had 8 rebounds.  He was helped by Darrion Mullen who scored 17.  Two Huskies reached double figures, with Brandon Smith and Adam Ashbaugh both scoring 10 points.  Nick Keizer scored seven points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
