PORTAGE (WKZO) --The Portage Board of Education has voted to offer Paw Paw Superintendent Mark Bielang the job of Superintendent, praising both Bielang and Three Rivers Supt. Roger Rathburn for their accomplishments and qualifications.
They were just a little more impressed with Bielang’s list of accomplishments, his management style, his familiarity with the Carver Model and his membership in leadership organizations.
They voted to offer him the job, pending a site visit to the Paw Paw community which they plan for Monday and a second and more comprehensive background check.
Contract negotiations will begin immediately, and a final deal could be inked by July 1st.
Yet to be determined: exactly how Bielang will transition from his current job to his new position.
