BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- The Battle Creek Police Department has released more information about an armed robbery that took place around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Officers responded to a hold up alarm at a Speedway gas station on West Columbia Avenue.  Two employees were inside when a man entered the store with a handgun, demanding money before fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.  A K-9 track of the suspect went cold behind Lassen Automotive down the road near 20th Street.

The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Dequan Antonio Brown.  He's described as standing five-feet, ten-inches in height and weighing around 170-pounds with personal ties to Battle Creek, Bellevue, and Byron Center.  At the time he was seen wearing a red hooded sweat shirt with black print, a gold do-rag, black shorts with white stripes, and gray and white striped athletic shoes, while carrying the money away in a black and yellow single-strap satchel described as a lunch bag.

The weapon in the incident was described as a black semi-automatic handgun with silver visible on top.  No one was injured, but police say Brown should be considered to be armed and dangerous.
