LANSING (WKZO) -- State Senator John Proos has a plan to help Michigan businesses. He's urging the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget to try to contract with more in-state companies for the wide variety of services for which the state government pays.
For example, Proos points to the amount of money the state has to pay just for meals in prisons. He figures that huge food purchase each day would best come from a Michigan provider. In fact, he estimates the state government spends about 32 billion dollars a year on contracts.
Proos has introduced a resolution urging the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget to find companies with which to contract by using a Pure Michigan service called Business Connect.
