DETROIT (WKZO) -- Detroit's Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr held his first public meeting Monday night on the campus of Wayne State University. He outlined the dire situation of the city's finances and was careful not to divulge too much information on his upcoming meeting with the city's creditors.
Orr did say that he would pursue the lease of Belle Isle to the State of Michigan as a state park. The plan was turned down several times by the Detroit City Council earlier this year.
Orr said he would not sell the property but the move would save the City of Detroit six-million dollars a year in maintenance costs.
