The ACLU says their research has found a huge racial disparity in who gets busted for pot

KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The ACLU says African Americans are four times more likely to be arrested for using marijuana nationwide than whites, and that gap drops to 3 to 1 in Michigan, but doubles in Kalamazoo County.

Even though both groups use the drug at about the same rate, their study shows that 8 blacks are arrested for every white user in Kalamazoo County, giving this area one of the largest racial disparities in the nation.

The ACLU’s Ezekiel Edwards says it’s all about policies and profiling.

Public Safety is about to release its own year long study of racial profiling in the department, a study conducted because of allegations that it has been an issue in Kalamazoo.
