FLINT (WKZO) -- The family of a Flint woman who was killed in war torn Syria, say they do not believe their loved one was fighting for "jihadists" -- but was brainwashed.
The daughter of Nichole Mansfield who was killed in the fighting in Syria this week is denying claims that she was a terrorist. Triana Jones says people wanted to use her mother because she's a U.S. citizen.
Her father, Gregory Mansfield says he knew something wasn't right about his daughter before her last trip to the Middle East. He says he asked the FBI to keep an eye on her and says they should have revoked her passport.
Secretary of State John Kerry would not specifically comment on her involvement, but says she is not the only foreign fighter there. He says there may be as many as 12-hundred.
Syrian state media said the 33-year-old Mansfield was killed in an ambush by government forces in a northwestern province earlier this week.
