Muskegon woman sentenced for hit on husband

MUSKEGON (WKZO) -- The Muskegon woman who made international headlines for trying to hire an undercover cop as a hit man to kill her husband is headed to prison.

Twenty-one-year-old Julia Merfeld was sentenced Wednesday to at least five-years and eight-months behind bars, and could spend 20-years locked up.  She pled guilty in June to a charge of solicitation of murder.

Merfeld plea to an officer to kill her husband was caught on tape with a hidden camera.
